Type 2 socket
A Type 2 socket is the socket outlet on an AC EV chargepoint that accepts a separate Type 2 charging cable instead of using a cable fixed to the charger.
A Type 2 socket is the BS EN 62196 Type 2 socket outlet on an AC EV chargepoint. It is common on socketed or untethered home and public chargepoints, where the driver plugs in a separate charging cable rather than using a tethered cable fixed to the unit.
