Type F RCD

A Type F RCD (residual current device) is a residual-current device classification for Type A behaviour plus additional residual-current waveforms from some single-phase electronic loads. BEAMA describes Type F as operating for Type A conditions plus composite residual currents and pulsating DC residual currents superimposed on smooth DC up to 10 mA. The label may appear in consumer-unit schedules, electrical certificates, EV charger paperwork, inverter manuals, heat-pump electrical schedules and product instructions. In EV charging guidance, a Type A or Type F RCD may be used only where suitable DC residual-current protection is provided in the charging equipment or through an RDC-DD (residual DC detecting device), depending on the equipment and manufacturer instructions.
