Type-tested inverter

A type-tested inverter is an inverter whose manufacturer has tested and documented the product against the relevant GB grid-connection requirements.

A type-tested inverter is a grid-connected inverter whose manufacturer has completed type-test evidence against the relevant GB Engineering Recommendation, such as EREC G98 or EREC G99. In home energy paperwork, the phrase can appear around solar PV inverters, hybrid battery inverters, export-capable storage devices and bidirectional EV charging equipment, because these products may generate or control electricity in parallel with the distribution network. The label describes product-level compliance evidence and a manufacturer or system reference, not DNO approval for the property, an export limit, MCS certification, commissioning quality, an export MPAN or permission to change settings later.
