UKCA and CE marking transition

UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) and CE (Conformité Européenne) marking transition describes the product-marking regime that followed the United Kingdom leaving the European Union. Great Britain introduced UKCA marking, but current GOV.UK guidance says CE marking continues to be recognised for many product sectors where rules remain aligned, with sector-specific rules deciding which marking, conformity assessment and documents are needed. Northern Ireland follows a different route under the Windsor Framework, using CE marking or CE with UKNI (UK Northern Ireland Conformity Assessed) marking where a UK body is used for third-party conformity assessment. In home energy documents the wording may appear around solar PV inverters, battery systems, EV chargepoints, heat pump controls, construction products, mounting products and monitoring equipment. It is product-market compliance context, not DNO approval, MCS certification, planning permission, Building Regulations completion evidence, product compatibility, warranty cover, export-tariff eligibility or proof that a specific installation is safe, suitable or correctly designed.
