Unit rate
A unit rate is the price charged or paid for each unit of energy, usually shown as pence per kilowatt hour on an energy tariff, bill or export payment page.
Unit rate means the amount charged for each unit of electricity or gas used, normally expressed as pence per kilowatt hour (p/kWh). On an import tariff it is different from the daily standing charge and from the total bill, which depends on usage and the rest of the tariff. Some tariffs use more than one unit rate, such as peak and off-peak electricity rates, and export tariffs can use a unit rate for electricity sent to the grid. A unit rate is not a meter reading, export MPAN setup, SEG acceptance, DNO approval, device-control setting or guarantee of savings.
