Usable capacity

Usable capacity is the amount of stored energy a battery system makes available for normal operation, usually shown in kilowatt hours (kWh). It can be lower than nominal capacity because depth-of-discharge limits, BMS limits, reserve settings, temperature limits and inverter or product configuration can keep part of the battery's stored energy outside normal operation. Usable capacity indicates how much solar generation or grid-charged electricity the battery may have available later. It is still not a backup-runtime promise: runtime also depends on the connected load, inverter losses, output power, reserve settings and which circuits are supplied during an outage. Read usable capacity with the product's nominal capacity, depth-of-discharge limit, state-of-charge range, charge and discharge power, temperature limits and warranty conditions.
