Voltage is the electrical potential difference, measured in volts, that describes supply levels, equipment ratings and battery operating ranges.

Voltage is the electrical potential difference between two points in a circuit, product or electricity supply. It is measured in volts, written as V. In home energy documents, voltage appears in figures such as 230 V AC single-phase supply, 400 V AC three-phase supply, charger rated voltage, battery nominal voltage and battery voltage range. Voltage is different from current, power and energy: voltage is the potential difference, current is the flow of charge, power depends on voltage and current at that moment and energy depends on how long power is used. A voltage figure should be read with whether it is AC or DC, the phase arrangement, the permitted range, the product conditions and the surrounding current or power limits rather than treated as a guarantee of output, compatibility, safety, DNO acceptance or installation approval.
