The SMILE-G3 name covers five documented inverter ratings and several battery-module codes. It does not identify one electrical product or one fixed storage capacity.
Inverter and battery combinations
The S3.6, S5 and S8 labels identify single-phase inverters, while T10 and T20 identify three-phase forms. Current UK documents cover three battery-module families, although not every module is documented with every inverter.
Module-count limits change with the inverter. A module’s nominal energy and usable energy are also different figures, so the inverter label, battery label and quantity are all needed to identify installed capacity.
The current S8 schedule is internally inconsistent: its heading and system table give different family-level capacity ranges. Capacity should be identified from the exact inverter code, compatible battery-module code and permitted module count.
Backup, communications and enclosure
Each documented inverter has a dedicated backup output. Its output and changeover specification does not decide whether selected circuits or a whole property are supplied during a power cut. Changeover equipment, circuit selection and backed-up loads remain part of the system design.
Network connections are documented throughout the range, with additional interfaces listed for some inverter codes. Enclosure and operating limits also attach to the exact inverter and battery module rather than the family name.
Current datasheets carry a common warranty headline. The UK warranty document dated December 2024 names the S3.6 and S5 systems and an older set of module codes, rather than every product in the expanded current family. Its application table gives an 80% energy-retention threshold, while a separate performance precondition refers to state of health below 70%. The codes and warranty document supplied with a newer S8, T10, T20, 4.8S or 9.6S system determine its cover.
An older ENA register row identifies SMILE-G3-S5/B5 as a 5 kW single-phase device under reference ALPHA/08318/V1/A2. That historical row does not establish the current connection position for another inverter code or installation.
