The SMILE5 name covers an inverter and four separately documented battery families. The inverter label, battery code and module count are needed to identify an installed system.
Four battery families
The smaller two battery families have a lower published current limit and a different cycle statement from the larger two. The published cycle figures are conditional on specific test conditions, not unconditional service-life figures.
The documented parallel arrangements use matching battery families; cross-family compatibility is unconfirmed. The largest module family needs an expansion pack once the system goes beyond one module. Its 80.0 kWh system maximum is the manufacturer’s published figure; multiplying six rounded 13.3 kWh module ratings gives 79.8 kWh.
The hybrid inverter accepts a solar array and has a dedicated uninterruptible power supply output.
Indoor and outdoor forms
Indoor configurations are IP21 and outdoor configurations are IP65. These are separate installation forms rather than two simultaneous ratings. Battery output is also derated within part of its overall permitted temperature range.
AlphaESS UK still hosts the SMILE5 datasheet and warranty document. The manufacturer’s April 2026 global brochure also identifies SMILE5 as available in the UK, although current UK residential navigation leads with SMILE-G3.
The published terms separate product cover from battery-performance cover. Three performance claim scenarios pair a temperature range and energy-throughput limit with a claim applying below either an 80% or 70% state-of-health threshold. The installation date and original warranty document remain part of the system record.
The historical ENA row for SMILE5-INV, reference ALPHA/01178/V2/A2, records “Further information required”. It does not establish current connection compliance for an installed or proposed system.
