evec VEC03 is an earlier-generation tethered domestic chargepoint that remains on sale alongside the physically distinct VEC03-N.

The absence of the -N suffix is material: VEC03 and VEC03-N are different physical products with separate documents.
Cable and electrical functions
The attached cable makes this a tethered charger rather than a socketed unit. Its adjustable output allows the installer to account for the circuit design.
The optional current transformer provides the measurement used for load balancing. Integrated fault and residual-current functions do not replace the external circuit protection required by the user manual and the wiring regulations.
evec later added solar integration to VEC03. Its announcement says the charger can use solar generation when available and switch to grid power when it is insufficient. An ECO setting prevents charging from the mains.
Physical identity
The official datasheet, user manual and live sales page do not give one settled physical specification. They disagree on ingress protection, operating temperature, dimensions and weight, while the manual distinguishes between the enclosure and vehicle connector. The exact code and documents supplied with a charger therefore matter when checking siting or replacement dimensions.
VEC03-N has different dimensions and enclosure documentation. The suffix must therefore be retained when matching a product, replacement or installation document.
Lifecycle, warranty and grant record
The vecGO 2.0 tethered datasheet calls VEC03-N the next generation. VEC03 was still directly orderable from evec on 23 July 2026, with its product page linking to vecGO 2.0 as the upgraded version. It was therefore an earlier generation still on sale at that date, not an installed-base-only model.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards accepted an enforcement undertaking in 2023 concerning VEC01 to VEC04 stock and Regulation 12 security requirements. It records that the affected existing stock was non-compliant, could not be reworked and would be sold at reduced prices to reduce the stock level. The document says current production already had the required change. The completion date for the VEC03 actions was 1 October 2023. That history is specific to the stock covered by the undertaking and does not state that later VEC03 production remained non-compliant.
For an existing unit, the warranty document and registration record supplied at purchase determine which terms apply. A GOV.UK model-list entry is separate from retail lifecycle and scheme eligibility. Its socket-count field is register metadata: VEC03 is physically tethered and does not have a chargepoint socket.
