Four principal wall-mounted codes distinguish the electrical supply and whether the driver uses a separate cable.
Codes and connection
VEC01-N and VEC02-N are untethered, so a driver’s cable connects to their socket. VEC03-N and VEC04-N are tethered. The model code must be retained in the product and handover records because it identifies both the supply form and cable arrangement.
On the untethered units, evec’s Type 1 and Type 2 compatibility wording refers to the vehicle-side cable supplied by the driver. It does not describe two different socket types on the chargepoint.
The higher-power versions require a suitable three-phase supply. Actual charging can be lower because the vehicle’s onboard AC charger and the site’s configured current limit also apply.
Smart and energy functions
The evec app provides control and scheduling. Card and plug-and-charge start modes allow different approaches to access, with RFID cards supplied according to the product documents.
ECO mode follows measured surplus solar generation. Home power load balancing relies on the current-transformer accessory being installed and commissioned for the site’s electrical layout.
The internal protection functions do not replace the external circuit protection specified by the manual and the wiring regulations. The installer still has to select those devices for the site and circuit.
Enclosure-rating conflict
Official sources agree on the untethered units but conflict over the tethered ingress ratings. The manual also separates enclosure protection from connector protection, while the datasheet and product pages do not apply that distinction consistently. The exact code and supplied documentation should be used for siting.
