Fronius Primo is a single-phase string-inverter family from the SnapINverter generation. Fronius still publishes its datasheet and installed-product support, but the current UK residential solutions page centres on GEN24. Primo is therefore retained as a superseded family rather than presented as the current new-install range.
Family position
The European manufacturer datasheet covers power classes from 3.0 to 8.2 kW. Primo is a grid-connected PV inverter with two MPPTs, intended to convert solar DC into single-phase AC. The exact input voltage, tracker current, AC current, efficiency and enclosure data vary by power class.
Primo is not a hybrid inverter and has no battery connection. It also does not create an islanded backup supply. A separate AC-coupled battery may coexist with an installed Primo where the complete system design, metering and grid compliance permit it, but that does not change the Primo’s own functions.
Monitoring and identification
SnapINverter products can use the integrated Datamanager platform for WLAN or Ethernet monitoring, Solar.web and supported control interfaces. Installed units may differ by option and production generation, so monitoring hardware should be checked rather than assumed.
The rating label and full code are needed when replacing or diagnosing a unit. A broad “Primo” description does not identify whether it is a 3.0, 3.6, 4.0, 4.6, 5.0, 6.0, 8.2 or market-specific version.
Support and replacement context
Fronius’s current owner support page retains SnapINverter help for Primo, Symo, Symo Hybrid and Eco. That supports maintenance of the installed base, not a claim that every old model remains in current UK distribution.
Warranty or replacement cover should be checked in Solar.web and against the serial number. Registration campaigns and terms have changed over time, so a current ten-year headline cannot be assigned automatically to an older Primo.
