Fronius Tauro is a current 50 kW three-phase string inverter for larger commercial and project-scale solar arrays. The family contains Tauro and Tauro Eco, each offered in Direct and Precombined layouts. It is a PV inverter rather than a hybrid battery inverter.
Tauro and Tauro Eco
Tauro has three MPPTs and a 400 to 870 V tracking range. Tauro Eco has one tracker and a narrower 580 to 930 V range. Both have a 1,000 V maximum DC input and 50 kW AC power class.
The tracker difference changes the array design. Three trackers can keep differently oriented or electrically different sub-arrays under separate control. A single Tauro Eco tracker is intended for a more uniform, centrally designed DC field. Neither arrangement can be chosen from the 50 kW headline alone.
Direct and Precombined layouts
Direct models accept PV string connections at the inverter and include 20 A or 30 A string fuses. Fronius also lists an optional arc-fault circuit interrupter for Direct versions. Precombined models receive DC from a separate combiner arrangement and support centralised project layouts.
The chosen suffix determines the string count, fuse schedule, surge-protection coordination, cable routing and isolation design. It also affects which equipment is at the array and which is concentrated at the inverter.
Installation and operation
Tauro uses active cooling and a double-wall enclosure. Fronius gives IP65 protection and permits indoor or outdoor installation in vertical or horizontal orientation. The permitted ambient and mounting conditions still come from the applicable operating instructions; an IP rating is not permission to ignore drainage, access, exposure or structural requirements.
The family supports different AC connection arrangements, including daisy chaining between specified inverters. That is an engineered project connection, not an unrestricted way to join AC outputs.
Solar.web monitoring and service interfaces are available. Metering, export limitation and DNO requirements are determined by the complete generating installation and its registered capacity, not by the inverter’s monitoring connection.
Warranty and model record
Fronius warranty depends on device, territory, commissioning date and registration. The full Tauro code, serial number and Solar.web record are needed when checking cover or replacement parts.
