The Aerona 290 12kW is Grant product HPR29012. It is one of the two larger-casing units in the Aerona 290 range and remains a single-phase, air-to-water monobloc despite the higher named output.

Ratings and register entry

The name refers to 12.00 kW at -5°C outdoor air and 55°C water flow. Rated output is 12.18 kW at 7°C outdoor air and 35°C flow. Both figures use BS EN 14511 test conditions, so the condition must travel with the output.

MCS HP0265/04 is the current MCS Product Directory record for the Grant Aerona HPR29012. A different manufacturer’s product uses the same HPR29012 code, so the manufacturer and certificate number should be checked together. The Grant record supplies the seasonal performance values shown in the table.

Minimum modulation output is 3.20 kW. The hydraulic design uses a 16.0-litre minimum system volume and a 64.0-litre recommended volume. The full requirement depends on which parts of the heating circuit remain open to the heat pump.

Installation context

The 12 kW and 15.5 kW models share the taller casing format. HPR29012 requires a 230 V single-phase supply, with the protective device and cable design determined from Grant’s electrical instructions and the installation conditions.

R290 is contained within the outdoor unit. The Aerona Smart Controller manages the heat pump and supported system functions. Siting, condensate handling, clearances and hydraulic connections must follow the current model-specific manual.

Availability and guarantee

HPR29012 was a current UK product with current MCS record HP0265/04 at 22 July 2026. The standard manufacturer guarantee is one year, rising to two years when the registration and servicing requirements are met. A separate conditional seven-year offer is available through eligible G1 installers.
