The Grant Aerona 290 6.5kW is an air-to-water monobloc heat pump with product code HPR29065. It is the second of five single-phase units in the Aerona 290 range and uses R290 refrigerant.

What the rating describes

The 6.5 kW name is tied to a cold-weather test point: 6.76 kW at -5°C outdoor air and 55°C flow. At 7°C outdoor and 35°C flow, the same unit is rated at 7.62 kW. Stating the conditions alongside the output avoids treating either figure as a fixed ceiling.

The SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) figures cover average-climate operation at two flow temperatures. They are also present in the live MCS record for HPR29065, certificate MCS HP0265/02. The MCS entry supplies a curve between 35°C and 55°C rather than a single efficiency number for every system.

Minimum modulation output is 2.40 kW. That lower limit is separate from the 6.5 kW model name.

Compatibility and installation

The Aerona 290 is used with Grant’s Aerona Smart Controller. As a monobloc, its refrigerant circuit is contained in the outdoor unit and the building-side connection carries water.

The April 2026 manual distinguishes casing-body dimensions from the larger overall external dimensions in its drawing. The table gives both. Its sound-pressure values use a Q=2 measurement basis, which must remain attached to the figures when they are compared with Grant’s range page.

Availability and guarantee

HPR29065 was a current UK Aerona 290 model with a current MCS record at 22 July 2026. Its one-year guarantee extends to two years with registration within 30 days and annual servicing. A separate seven-year offer applies only through an eligible G1 installer and remains subject to its terms.
