Huawei Smart Dongle is a plug-in communications family for compatible SUN2000 and SUN5000 inverters. WLAN-FE and 4G versions provide different routes to FusionSolar and supported third-party management systems.
WLAN-FE
The WLAN-FE variant is SDongleA-05. Its Ethernet connection provides a wired network path alongside WLAN.
That wired route can avoid relying on local WLAN coverage at the inverter position.
Huawei lists named L1, LC0, M1, M5, MB0, MAP0 and SUN5000 families in the current compatibility table. Older datasheets contain different lists, so the exact inverter and dongle code need to be checked against the current table.
4G and local access
The 4G version uses a mobile network for remote communications and provides a WLAN access point for local commissioning.
The dongle carries monitoring data and configuration access. It is not the inverter’s protection, export meter or backup controller. Loss of cloud communications should therefore be distinguished from loss of solar generation.
WLAN-FE and 4G are alternative communications routes. Selecting either one does not alter the inverter’s electrical compatibility limits.
Dongle codes in warranty and security documents
Huawei’s May 2026 European policy places Smart Dongle in its accessory warranty category, with the sales contract controlling. The April 2024 UK PSTI (Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure) statement names Smart DongleA-05, A-03 and B-06-EU, but its period concerns product security. Huawei still lists WLAN-FE and 4G products, while current UK new supply for every code or mobile-network version is unconfirmed.
