Humax EQ7 is a tethered home EV chargepoint with either a 4 m or 7 m Type 2 cable. The same unit is called the eCord home charger in its support material and in the UK government’s eligible chargepoint list.
Power rating and model names
The EQ7 is a single-phase 230 V, 32 A unit. Both cable variants have a 7.4 kW product and government-listing rating, while the current support specification rounds output to 7 kW. The electrical input is consistent, so these labels do not identify separate output variants.
The exact government-register identifiers are EH-A01-A0704/GB for the 4 m cable and EH-A01-A0707/GB for the 7 m cable. Both had residential grant-list status on 15 June 2026. That status does not by itself establish that a particular customer or installation qualifies for funding.
Charging control and energy monitoring
The charger can start through plug-and-charge mode, the Humax app or an RFID card. OCPP 1.6 JSON allows the unit to communicate with a compatible charging service. Wi-Fi and Ethernet provide its network connection, while Bluetooth is used during local setup.
A connected current transformer, or a compatible energy meter, supplies the household measurement used for dynamic load balancing. Humax’s solar mode uses the same type of energy data to vary charging around surplus generation. Without an energy-monitoring device, load balancing and automatic solar charging are unavailable.
The enclosure is rated IP65 and IK08, while the fixed vehicle connector is rated IP55. The unit has 6 mA DC residual-current detection and PEN (protective earth and neutral) fault protection. Humax’s installation guidance also requires a separate Type A protective device at the consumer unit, selected and installed as part of the circuit design.
Availability and support
Humax continues to list the EQ7 and provides its user manual, installation guide, app and support articles. Its direct UK product page showed both cable choices as out of stock and described the EQ7 as temporarily unavailable on 22 July 2026. Humax had issued no end-of-life or withdrawal notice, so the product remained current in catalogue terms.
The product warranty is three years. Installation and warranty conditions apply, and the documentation supplied for an existing unit determines its cover.
