Maxeon 6 is a family of residential solar panels built with interdigitated-back-contact cells. The current manufacturer library divides it into standard white-backsheet, Black-backsheet and AC forms, with separate commercial products under the same generation name.
Residential DC formats
The current standard DC documents cover several wattages in a common footprint, so their increasing efficiency reflects more rated output from the same face area. Black variants cover a different set of wattages and have their own suffixes.
Back-contact describes the cell’s electrical layout. These modules still use a backsheet and are not bifacial panels designed to collect light through the rear. The junction-box rating belongs to that component rather than the entire module.
The temperature coefficient describes the change in maximum power as cell temperature moves away from the standard test point. It is not an annual energy estimate. Roof orientation, shading, inverter limits and local weather remain separate inputs to a system forecast.
UK warranty and certification
The UK terms effective from August 2024 include the SPR-MAXy-xxx code pattern. Digital registration within the stated window is a condition of the longer product and power terms. Without registration, both the duration and end-of-term power percentage change.
At 23 July 2026, the MCS Product Directory contained a narrower set of exact standard and Black DC codes than the live manufacturer datasheets. In particular, the lowest standard wattage in the datasheet did not have a current exact directory result.
The full label matters because an attached-microinverter code and a DC-only code are different records. The dimensions, suffix and certification number must identify the same product.
