Solo 3S is the current Pod Point home charger. It uses the oval Solo enclosure but is distinct from the earlier Solo 3 documents and commercial variants.
Socketed and tethered versions
Both current versions are rated at up to 7.4 kW on a single-phase supply. The untethered unit has a universal Type 2 socket. The tethered unit has a fixed 6.5 m Type 2 cable according to the current sales page. Earlier Pod Point sheets show other cable lengths, so an installed unit should be identified from its code and handover documents.
The charger cannot make a vehicle take 7.4 kW. Its configured current, active load control, the vehicle’s onboard AC charger and the building’s available supply can all set a lower rate.
App, solar and protection
The Pod Home app provides smart charging, activity records, boost and remote charger locking. Solar integration uses surplus generation measured at the property, so it relies on the associated current measurement being fitted and commissioned correctly. A charger being described as solar compatible does not mean that every installation already contains that measurement.
The charger includes 6 mA DC leakage detection and PME or failed-earth protection. The enclosure is IP54 and has IK10 impact protection. External circuit protection and cable design still need to follow the current installation instructions.
Warranty and codes
The current consumer page states up to five years of cover for charger and installation. Pod’s wholesaler installer route makes a five-year product warranty conditional on installer verification and completion of its training. The written order and registration therefore establish the applicable cover.
GOV.UK records include several S7 and S22 codes from the Solo family. Those code rows separate connector and power variants, and should not be treated as separate product families.
