Home 7 is the single-phase Basic model in Simpson & Partners’ current Home Series V3. Its family name and the government register use 7 kW, while the current manufacturer table gives a 7.4 kW maximum at 32 A.
Socket and fixed-cable forms
The untethered version has a locking Type 2 socket. The tethered version has a fixed Type 2 cable, with 6.8 m and 9.6 m lengths in the V3 schedule. Connector form and cable length are order choices rather than differences in charging power.
The chargepoint can vary current from 6 A to 32 A. Actual vehicle power may be lower because the car’s onboard AC charger, the connected cable, the configured circuit limit and household load management can each set a lower ceiling.
Basic and Plus differences
Home 7 uses the Basic finish and feature set. It has the plastic cap and narrower colour range, while Home 7 Plus adds the wider finish choices, courtesy lighting, optional Ethernet, wireless energy-management options and Charge Doctor health monitoring.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, app control, tariff integration, automatic over-the-air updates and native OCPP 1.6J are listed for V3. A wired Energy Manager is included for dynamic home-load balancing. The wireless Energy Manager is a Plus option rather than a Home 7 Basic feature. Solar charging appears in the V3 family schedule, but the ordered configuration determines the available control functions.
The enclosure has an IP54 ingress-protection rating and an IK10 impact-protection rating. Protection functions include 6 mA of DC residual-current detection, PEN (protective earth and neutral) fault protection, welded-contact detection and thermal monitoring.
For units bought after 1 April 2025, Simpson & Partners gives ten years for the enclosure and five years for the power electronics, subject to registration. The GOV.UK list updated 15 June 2026 recorded HOME 7 for both residential and commercial grants; the live list and grant rules apply at the time of an application.
