Sunny Tripower X is SMA’s three-phase commercial string-inverter family. The name now covers two materially different schedules: STP 12-50 to STP 25-50 and the larger STP 50-80 and STP 60-80 sold as Sunny Tripower X 60. The full type code is essential.
X 12 to X 25
STP 12-50, STP 15-50, STP 20-50 and STP 25-50 provide 12, 15, 20 and 25 kW respectively. Each has three independent MPPTs. These are PV-only inverters with no direct battery input.
System management and solar conversion are separate functions. System-management capability does not create a direct battery connection or make the inverter hybrid.
X 60 range
STP 50-80 and STP 60-80 provide 50 and 60 kW. They have five MPPTs with two string inputs per tracker, 40 A maximum usable current per tracker and a DC-to-AC ratio up to 150%.
SMA announced UK ordering for X 60 in October 2025. Its standard warranty is five years, with paid extensions available.
Design and connection
The 12–25 kW and X 60 schedules have different input arrangements and ratings. A generic “Tripower X” description is therefore incomplete; the full STP code identifies the applicable schedule.
