SolarEdge S500 is a residential module-level power optimiser for compatible SolarEdge inverters. It shares its voltage class with S440 but has a separate input-power schedule.
S500 dated input-power schedule
The base row corresponds to the S500 product name. A footnote permits a higher DC input rating for installations after 1 April 2024.
The date condition matters when an optimiser is assessed against a PV module. It does not alter the voltage ceiling or the European datasheet’s short-circuit-current ceiling, and it should not be applied retrospectively to an earlier installation without explicit manufacturer support.
S500 and S500B are different voltage classes
S500 and S500B carry similar power names, but S500B has a wider MPPT window and a higher maximum output voltage.
The exact optimiser code must therefore be used in the SolarEdge design table. Shortening either model to S500 loses the B distinction and can change the valid string arrangement.
New installations must not mix S-series and P-series optimisers in the same string.
S500 shutdown value and cover
For S500, the low safety output applies only when it is disconnected from an operating compatible inverter under the datasheet condition.
SolarEdge’s August 2025 policy covers eligible power optimisers subject to its claim and product conditions. S500 remains in the current residential S-series datasheet.
