S500B optimiser

SolarEdge S500B is a residential module-level power optimiser for compatible SolarEdge inverters. The B identifies a wider-voltage product rather than a mounting-only variant of S500.

S500B voltage and string counts

S500B accepts a broader module-voltage range and has a different output-voltage ceiling from S500. This changes the permitted optimiser count in parts of SolarEdge’s residential string-design table.

Its input-power row also has the dated installation condition used elsewhere in the current S-series schedule. The higher figure applies after 1 April 2024, while the voltage and current limits remain separate constraints.

Substitution therefore needs the complete optimiser code, PV module electrical data and inverter design table. Matching the nominal wattage in the model name does not establish that S500 and S500B can occupy the same string position.

S500B flat and curved brackets

SolarEdge lists two S500B part numbers with different bracket forms. The bracket suffix identifies the supplied mechanical arrangement; it does not create a different electrical schedule.

Connector type and cable layout also remain part-number details. They come from the exact part number rather than the family page.

S500B shutdown value and UK status

The shutdown value applies when the optimiser is under the disconnected condition in the datasheet.

The current general policy covers eligible power optimisers subject to its terms. S500B remains in the current European residential datasheet, but SolarEdge’s current UK optimiser page lists S550B rather than S500B. Current UK new-supply status is therefore unconfirmed.
