Tesla Powerwall 3 is a 13.5 kWh home battery with an integrated single-phase solar inverter, configurable up to 11.04 kW AC for UK installations.

Tesla Powerwall 3 combines a home battery, battery inverter and solar inverter in one enclosure. Its nominal battery energy is 13.5 kWh. The UK model is single-phase and its AC output can be configured at 3.68, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11.04 kW. The design record, DNO application and commissioned setting must use the same configured output.
Solar and battery operation
Three MPPTs accept direct PV input, with a maximum combined solar STC input of 20 kW. Solar-to-home or grid efficiency is 97.5%, while solar-to-battery-to-home or grid efficiency is 89% under the datasheet test conditions.
AC charging of one Powerwall 3 is configurable up to 5 kW. A unit connected to as many as three Expansion batteries can charge at up to 8 kW AC. These charge ratings are distinct from the battery’s maximum discharge output.
Backup and system size
Backup Gateway 2 provides the supported islanding function.
A system can contain up to four Powerwall 3 units and up to three Expansion units, with seven enclosures in total.
Siting, connectivity and warranty
The enclosure measures 1,105 by 609 by 193 mm and weighs 130 kg. It is rated for indoor or outdoor use between -20°C and 50°C. The battery and power electronics have an IP67 ingress rating, while the wiring compartment is IP55. Output may reduce above 40°C.
The ten-year warranty requires reliable internet connectivity for the full term, subject to the applicable warranty document and installation conditions.
