ArcBox is a Viridian Solar accessory fitted around an assembled solar DC connector. Despite the existing page name, it is neither a PV module nor exclusive to Clearline Fusion.

Passive connector enclosure

Two hinged halves close around the connector and hold it within a refractory lining. Cable grommets locate the leads, while openings provide ventilation and drainage. The device has no sensing or switching function and does not make or remake the electrical joint.

The published dimensional limits concern whether the assembled connector and cable fit the enclosure. They do not establish the electrical compatibility of the connector and cable with each other.

Fire-test boundary

Viridian reports independent pitched-roof testing by Kiwa in which more than five minutes of arcing did not spread fire to the surrounding materials in the tested building-integrated PV arrangement. It also reports flat-roof tests at the Slovenian National Building and Civil Engineering Institute in which ArcBox prevented fire spread in the representative configurations. Loughborough University separately checked that connector temperature under load remained within manufacturer guidance.

Those results describe the assemblies used in the tests. Connector selection, crimping, mating and cable support remain separate parts of the installation.

Mounting arrangements

ArcBox can be installed behind a roof-integrated array on a batten bracket. Other brackets attach it to common solar rails or named flat-roof systems, including Esdec FlatFix and Renusol FS. The enclosure can therefore appear under Viridian panels, another panel brand or a commercial flat-roof array.
