Zaptec Go 2 is a socketed AC charger for homes and smaller commercial installations. It can operate on single-phase or three-phase supplies and adds certified metering, a display and newer communications hardware to the Go platform.
Power and metering
On a TN supply, the published maximum is 7.4 kW at 32 A single-phase or 22 kW at 32 A three-phase. Zaptec also documents 12.7 kW three-phase operation on an IT network. The available power depends on the supply, circuit setting, vehicle’s onboard charger and any load control.
The Type 2 socket has an electronic cable lock. A backlit display shows charger and metering information, while the surrounding light indicates operating status. The integrated meter is MID Class B certified and records import and export energy. That makes the charger suitable for applications requiring a certified device reading, although acceptance for billing or reimbursement still depends on the scheme or operator.
Smart control, solar and V2G readiness
Go 2 connects through 4G LTE Cat 1, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The Zaptec app provides user control and access, while OCPP 1.6J, API and webhook routes support third-party management.
The charger supports solar integration and one-phase to three-phase switching. Zaptec Sense can add building-level measurement and load control. Performance depends on the energy-management setup rather than the charger acting alone.
Go 2 has ISO 15118 hardware support. V2G-ready does not mean bidirectional export is active. Vehicle compatibility, installation design, software, standards and an available energy service all have to align before energy can flow from a car to a building or the grid.
Protection and installation
The charger contains a 6 mA DC residual-current detection device and requires an upstream circuit breaker and separate 30 mA Type A RCD. Unlike the UK-specific first-generation Go, Go 2 has no documented integrated open-PEN protection. Its earthing and PEN-fault arrangement therefore has to be established in the installation design.
Go 2 is rated IP54 and IK10 and operates from -30°C to 50°C. It measures 239 by 178 by 73 mm and weighs 1.6 kg. The guarantee runs for five years from original purchase, subject to Zaptec’s terms.
The GOV.UK list dated 15 June 2026 includes Go 2 at 22.1 kW for residential and commercial grants. Scheme eligibility still depends on the applicant, property and installation.
