Zaptec Go is a socketed home EV charger. The current UK open-PEN version is a 7.4 kW single-phase model, identifiable by a serial number beginning ZGB. This distinction matters because three-phase Zaptec Go versions also exist in other markets.
Charging and controls
The Type 2 socket accepts a separate charging cable, which can be electronically locked to the charger for regular use. Maximum output is 32 A, or 7.4 kW at the nominal supply voltage. The car, installation setting and active load control can all reduce that rate.
Wi-Fi and 4G LTE-M provide cloud connectivity, while Bluetooth is used for local configuration. The Zaptec app covers scheduling, access, charging history and cable locking. RFID (radio-frequency identification) can be used where charging access needs to be restricted. Zaptec also documents API, webhook and cloud-to-cloud OCPP 1.6J integration.
Up to three Zaptec Go-family chargers can form one Home installation. Zaptec Go and Go 2 can be mixed, although each requires its own protective devices and the available capacity is shared. Zaptec Sense is the separate measurement product used for dynamic building-load control and supported solar charging.
Protection and installation
The UK 7 kW version includes open-PEN protection for relevant UK supplies. It also has integrated 6 mA DC residual-current detection. Zaptec’s installation instructions still require a separate upstream circuit breaker and 30 mA Type A RCD for each charger. These functions should not be omitted on the assumption that the internal DC detector provides complete circuit protection.
The enclosure is IP54 and IK08, with a stated operating range from -30°C to 40°C. The unit measures 242 by 180 by 75 mm and weighs 1.3 kg.
Zaptec guarantees the charger against material and manufacturing defects for five years from original purchase, subject to its full terms. Zaptec Go appears on the GOV.UK eligible chargepoint list dated 15 June 2026 for residential and commercial grants.
That spreadsheet assigns the row a 22.1 kW maximum, which conflicts with Zaptec’s current 7.4 kW specification for the UK open-PEN model. The manufacturer’s UK rating and the exact product label should be used for installation design; the grant row should be used only to check the model listing.
