Zaptec Pro MID is a socketed AC chargepoint for apartment blocks, workplaces, fleets and commercial parking. It combines the scalable Zaptec Pro site architecture with a MID Class B certified energy meter and a display for cumulative readings.

Power distribution across a site

The charger can supply up to 7.4 kW single-phase or 22 kW three-phase on a suitable TN system. On an IT network, Zaptec specifies up to 12.7 kW three-phase. The connected vehicle and the site’s available capacity can impose lower limits.

Multiple Pro chargers distribute current across the installation. Dynamic phase balancing assigns single-phase charging across the available phases and can select one-phase or three-phase operation for a compatible vehicle. This allows installed capacity to be shared, but it also means an individual charger may not run at its nameplate maximum while other vehicles are charging.

Zaptec Portal provides site configuration, user access, status and reports. Chargers communicate through power-line networking, Wi-Fi or 4G LTE-M, with Bluetooth used for local functions. RFID identifies users, while API, webhook and cloud-to-cloud OCPP 1.6J routes support third-party platforms.

Meter and protective devices

The integrated meter is certified to MID Class B under certificate N-18/3585. The front display can show cumulative energy. MID approval concerns the measuring instrument; whether its reading is accepted for a particular payment, tenancy or expense process depends on the operator and applicable rules.

Internal protective equipment includes three 40 A type C miniature circuit breakers and a Type B residual-current device. Those components do not replace the need to design the upstream shared circuit, earthing, load management and isolation for the site.

The Type 2 socket has a self-closing cover and can lock the cable electronically. The enclosure is rated IP54 and IK10 and operates from -30°C to 40°C. It measures 392 by 258 by 112 mm and weighs about 5 kg including its backplate.

Zaptec states a five-year guarantee, subject to its terms. The GOV.UK eligible list dated 15 June 2026 includes Pro MID at 22 kW for residential and commercial grants. The manufacturer’s UK smart-charging guidance also requires correct UK selection, firmware and configuration, so compliance should be confirmed during commissioning rather than assumed from the enclosure alone.
