Baxi HP40 is a family of R32 air-to-water monobloc heat pumps for residential heating and hot water. Its six output names cover 4, 5, 7, 8, 11 and 13 kW. Every size has a single-phase model, while the 11 and 13 kW sizes are also available in three phase.
Output at stated conditions
The number in an HP40 model name is not its output at every outdoor and flow temperature. Baxi’s technical table provides maximum and nominal capacities at several test points. The structured specification above uses nominal output at -5°C outdoor air and 55°C flow, following the model order shown.
The same order is used for SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) and sound. Single-phase and three-phase versions of the same named output share the published seasonal figures, though their electrical supply requirements differ. Baxi states that its selections and sizing use nominal values unless it says otherwise.
Casing and system equipment
The 4 and 5 kW units have a 1309 mm wide, 700 mm high and 400 mm deep casing body. Baxi also publishes larger total height and depth measurements of 717 mm and 426 mm. Models from 7 to 13 kW use a 1388 by 850 by 448 mm casing body, with total height and depth of 864 mm and 523 mm.
The refrigerant circuit is sealed inside the outdoor unit. A basic human-machine interface controller is supplied with the HP40. Baxi offers its more capable ASHP Control as an option and lists 210, 250 and 300 litre Baxi heat-pump cylinders within the wider system range.
Certification and availability
The live MCS Product Directory has eight current records for the family, from HP40-4-1PHMB under MCS HP0033/01 to HP40-13-3PHMB under MCS HP0033/08. The complete model number identifies the named output, phase and MCS record.
Baxi continues to list the HP40 in its homeowner and professional residential ranges at 22 July 2026. Its ASHP guide states a two-year standard warranty and advertises an enhanced warranty of up to five years, subject to the applicable terms.
