BYD Power-Box SH3-6K is a single-phase hybrid inverter for PV generation, high-voltage battery storage and an installed backup circuit. The family comprises SH3K, SH3.7K, SH4.6K, SH5K and SH6K models. BYD publishes a UK and Ireland quick-start guide, but a current UK retail route was not established, so new-supply availability remains unconfirmed.
PV and battery connections
The five models have rated AC outputs of 3, 3.68, 4.6, 5 and 6 kW. Each has two MPPTs with one string input per tracker, a 600 V maximum PV input and a 16 A maximum current per tracker. Permitted array power varies by model from 6 to 9 kWp.
The battery input operates from 80 to 480 V with up to 35 A charge or discharge current. The V2.3 datasheet names Battery-Box HVE and HVB, but the exact battery size, inverter firmware and current compatibility schedule still define a valid combination.
Backup and installation data
The dedicated backup output is rated at the model’s nominal power. Published short-duration output is twice nominal power for ten seconds, with a stated transfer time below 13 ms. These are inverter capabilities, not confirmation that every circuit or appliance can be backed up. The completed installation still needs the specified changeover, protection, earthing and load arrangement.
The enclosure is IP65 and measures 480 × 480 × 180 mm. It uses natural convection, has a stated noise level below 25 dB and communicates over Wi-Fi, LAN, Bluetooth, RS485 and CAN. Maximum efficiency is 97.7%.
Warranty boundary
The Power-Box warranty letter available on 22 July 2026 gives the inverter five years as standard. It describes an automatic extension to ten years only when all listed conditions are met, including timely connection to BYD monitoring, installation by a BYD-authorised installer and operation with a qualifying BYD Battery-Box. The letter specifically names HVE for SH models. Labour and transport are excluded from the additional five-year period unless a separate agreement says otherwise.
