Battery-Box HVE is a current high-voltage residential battery on BYD Energy Storage’s global product site. It uses two pack sizes in mixed combinations and can be mounted on a wall or floor. HVE has European warranty terms and an inverter compatibility declaration, while UK new-supply status remains unconfirmed.

Two pack sizes and mixed combinations

The family combines 4.29 kWh and 6.43 kWh HVE modules in twelve named configurations: HVE 6.4, 8.5, 10.7, 12.8-1, 12.8-2, 15.0, 17.1-1, 19.2, 17.1-2, 19.3, 21.4 and 23.5. Their exact usable energies are 6.43, 8.58, 10.72, 12.86, 12.87, 15.01, 17.15, 19.29, 17.16, 19.30, 21.44 and 23.58 kWh respectively. The two similarly named 12.8 and 17.1 configurations use different module combinations and physical layouts.

Three towers can be connected in parallel for a maximum of 70.74 kWh. Maximum charge and discharge current is 35 A, with 70 A peak output for ten seconds. HVE remains the battery side of the system and has no AC power rating.

HVE uses LFP cells and has battery round-trip efficiency of at least 95%. BYD’s HVE compatibility declaration covers the Power-Box SH3K to SH6K and TH5K to TH15K models. Compatibility with any other inverter should not be inferred from voltage alone.

Installation and system role

The HVE enclosure is 140 mm deep and rated IP65. It can be mounted on a wall or floor.

HVE needs a compatible external inverter. Any backup function belongs to the combined inverter, battery and changeover arrangement, not to a standalone AC output within the battery. Permitted pack combinations and firmware requirements still come from the current manuals for the selected HVE and Power-Box models.

European warranty and UK status

HVE is current globally. UK distribution, grid-system compatibility and installer support are unconfirmed.

The European residential warranty available on 22 July 2026 applies to HVE systems installed in Europe on or after 1 September 2025. It gives a 15-year product warranty and performance cover until the earlier of 15 years at 60% retained usable energy or the model-specific throughput limit. That schedule runs from 26.10 MWh for HVE 6.4 to 95.69 MWh for HVE 23.5. Warranty-start, authorised-supply, compatible-inverter and operating conditions still apply.
