Altherma 3 R is Daikin’s current lower-temperature R32 split air-to-water family. Current records use ERGA outdoor codes in the 4, 6 and 8 kW classes and ERLA codes in the 11, 14 and 16 kW classes.

A split system with several indoor routes

Refrigerant pipework connects the outdoor and indoor units, unlike an Altherma 3 M monobloc or Altherma 4 H hydrosplit. Refrigerant work therefore follows the qualifications, pipe limits and commissioning instructions for the exact combination.

The R W package has a wall-mounted indoor hydraulic unit and separate hot-water storage where required. R F combines the indoor hydraulic equipment with an integrated 180 or 230 litre cylinder. Heating-only and reversible units, backup-heater ratings and electrical supplies add further suffixes.

Published package figures

Daikin’s current UK package pages state domestic hot water up to 60°C, outdoor operation down to -25°C and outdoor sound pressure from 44 to 50 dB(A). These are family presentation figures. Capacity at the design temperature, flow temperature limits and sound power remain code-specific.

The family is described for low-temperature emitters and new-build applications, but that wording is not a heat-loss calculation. The building design still determines the required output and emitter temperatures.

Certification and warranty

Exact ERGA and ERLA indoor-and-outdoor combinations were current in the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) Product Directory on 23 July 2026. Some records include a named cylinder or integrated indoor unit. The complete combination should be matched rather than relying on Altherma 3 R alone.

Daikin’s live UK warranty page stated a two-year standard term at the review date. Longer air-to-water terms were available through Stand By Me subject to registration, qualifying installation, annual maintenance and the full conditions.
