Enphase IQ Battery 5P is a current AC-coupled home battery. The UK product has SKU IQBATTERY-5P-1P-INT, 5.0 kWh usable energy, six embedded IQ8D-BAT microinverters and 3.2 kVA continuous output.
AC-coupled arrangement
The battery connects on the AC side of the installation. It can therefore be fitted with Enphase solar or used in an appropriate retrofit design, but it remains part of a system rather than a stand-alone appliance.
An IQ Gateway Metered and Communications Kit 2 provide metering and wired control communication in the stated configuration. Full backup needs the compatible IQ System Controller 3 INT, protected-load distribution and correct grid-isolation design. The 5P itself does not establish that a home can run during a power cut.
Capacity and power
Usable energy and power answer different questions. A single 5P can store 5.0 kWh and deliver 3.2 kVA continuously, but appliance starting currents, simultaneous loads and the permitted backup design still need checking. Additional batteries can increase both stored energy and system output within Enphase’s supported design limits.
The battery uses LFP chemistry and passive cooling. Its operating-temperature range is not a promise of equal charging power at every temperature. Location, clearances, surface, access and environmental exposure have to follow the current installation guide.
Commissioning and warranty
Enphase University certification is required to commission IQ Battery 5P. Meter orientation, control communication, gateway software and the system operating mode should be verified in the commissioning report.
The current Great Britain storage schedule, effective for covered products activated on or after 15 September 2025, states 15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles, whichever occurs first. It defines the territory as Scotland, England and Wales. Activation date, registration, authorised sales route and the full exclusions apply. Northern Ireland needs its applicable warranty document.
The handover pack should include the battery and gateway serial numbers, single-line diagram, protected-load schedule where relevant, installer access arrangements and homeowner account ownership.
