Battery 5.2 is a home-storage battery from GivEnergy, sold under the trade name Giv-Bat 5.2. It is part of the company’s first-generation (Gen 1) modular range: a wall-mounted or floor-stood LFP pack that connects to a separate GivEnergy inverter instead of operating on its own.
A DC module paired with a GivEnergy inverter
The 5.2 is a battery module rather than an all-in-one storage unit. It contains the cells and the BMS, provides a nominal 51.2 V DC output and communicates with the inverter over an RS485 (Modbus) serial link. System-level figures such as continuous power output, whole-home backup support and single or three-phase operation are set by the paired inverter, not by the battery, so the module is rated by its charge and discharge current rather than by a power figure in kilowatts.
It is a low-voltage DC pack at a nominal 51.2 V, so it pairs with GivEnergy inverters built for that voltage class; whether the wider system ends up AC or DC coupled follows from that inverter. A compatible GivEnergy inverter is required and is bought separately. The battery is retrofit-compatible, can be added to an existing PV array and can form a storage system without solar.
Capacity, warranty and operating limits
The pack’s nominal capacity is 5.2 kWh and its depth of discharge is 80%. The design is modular, but the supported maximum configuration is unconfirmed and must follow the compatible inverter and system schedule.
The original warranty used two limits together, a fixed number of years and a total energy throughput in megawatt-hours. Cover ended when either limit was reached. GivEnergy Ltd’s administrator will honour no further hardware warranties.
Three separate temperature windows apply for charging, discharging and storage. The pack is rated IP65 and supports wall or floor mounting.
Availability and manufacturer status
Battery 5.2 was a Gen 1 product and had been superseded before GivEnergy Ltd entered administration and ceased trading on 9 April 2026. The specification follows the September 2023 datasheet and is retained for owners and engineers working with installed units. Owners needing support are directed to their installer in the first instance.
