DeepBlue 4.0 X
DeepBlue 4.0 X is JA Solar's original name for the n-type generation introduced in 2022. Its technical paper covers 54-, 72- and 78-cell module formats rather than one model code.

DeepBlue 4.0 X names the n-type generation that JA Solar launched in 2022. Its technical paper covers several module sizes, so it should not be treated as an orderable model by itself.
From generation name to product code
The launch paper groups JAM54D40, JAM72D40 and JAM78D40 examples under DeepBlue 4.0 X. It assigns the 54-cell format to residential systems and the larger formats to commercial, industrial and utility-scale projects. The example residential table lists 430 W and 435 W JAM54D40/GB modules.
Current manufacturer pages carry later D40 wattages and suffixes. JA Solar’s European catalogue also uses the shorter DeepBlue 4.0 and DeepBlue 4.0 Pro labels. This is a change in catalogue presentation, not evidence that every D40 panel shares the launch-paper values.
The 54-cell examples alone now include 1722 mm and 1762 mm module heights. They also have different finish, connector, cable and warranty forms. The complete JAM code and the revision printed on the datasheet therefore provide the identification needed for layout and electrical design.
UK record and warranty
The MCS Product Directory records modules by their exact model codes, not under DeepBlue 4.0 X. Current D40 entries were present on 23 July 2026, but a family-level name cannot establish certification for a particular wattage or suffix.
JA Solar’s June 2026 warranty groups n-type DeepBlue 4.0 codes by construction and suffix. Its peak-power schedule allows no more than 1% degradation in year one and 0.4% a year after that. Product-warranty duration is not common across the whole generation, and modules sold before the effective date keep their earlier warranty version.
