FTC is Mitsubishi Electric’s name for the Ecodan flow-temperature controller family. It manages the heat-pump system and its water temperatures; it is not the outdoor unit, a heating-output rating or a universal controller for every Ecodan generation.
FTC7 is the current generation
The current FTC7 page describes a colour touchscreen, an installation wizard, intelligent room-temperature control, an interface for quiet-mode settings and energy monitoring. It is also described as ready for Smart Grid and PV integration. These functions depend on the complete system, commissioning and any required meters or external connections.
MELCloud provides internet-based control and monitoring where the necessary connection and account are in place. Mitsubishi Electric also lists the PAR-WT60R-E wireless transmitter and PAR-WR61R-E receiver, with up to eight transmitters per system. Those product codes distinguish the room-control hardware from the FTC controller built into or supplied with the indoor equipment.
The generation must match the system
FTC5 and FTC6 references remain in Mitsubishi Electric’s live support and product material because earlier Ecodan systems remain installed. A control instruction written for FTC7 should not be assumed to describe an FTC5 or FTC6 display, menu or wiring arrangement.
The complete indoor-unit code is the starting point for identifying the installed generation. It also determines whether the controller is part of a packaged cylinder, pre-plumbed cylinder, hydrobox or standalone arrangement. Commissioned weather-compensation settings, flow temperatures and zones belong to the particular heating design rather than to the FTC name alone.
Monitoring and warranty boundaries
An on-screen energy figure is not automatically the same as a supplier meter reading. Its meaning depends on the sensors and metering package installed with the system.
Mitsubishi Electric’s warranty schedule on 23 July 2026 gave Ecodan ancillaries three years across its installer-status routes, subject to registration and the full terms. The controller and indoor equipment should be recorded separately from the outdoor unit in the handover material.
