NexBlue Edge (UK) is a Type 2 socketed chargepoint for single-phase and three-phase installations. Its manufacturer rating runs from 1.4 to 22 kW, depending on the supply and current available.
Supply, control and energy monitoring
At the upper rating the unit uses three phases at up to 32 A. It can also run on a single-phase 230 V supply. The configured rating depends on the property’s phase arrangement and the charging limit of the vehicle.
Charging can be authorised through the myNexBlue app, an RFID (radio-frequency identification) card, near-field communication or plug-and-play mode. Local OCPP 1.6J is available for a compatible management platform. Connectivity comprises Wi-Fi, a built-in 4G eSIM, Bluetooth and NexBlue’s local Nexus RF link.
Dynamic load balancing and solar-surplus charging require NexBlue Zen or a compatible energy-monitoring system. The separate monitor measures the site rather than the chargepoint inferring available capacity from its own circuit.
Edge has built-in 6 mA DC detection, 30 mA AC residual-current protection and PEN (protective earth and neutral) fault protection. NexBlue’s specification also requires an external Type A residual-current device as part of the installed circuit.
Earlier-generation status
The Edge enclosure is 235 by 230 by 130 mm and has ingress protection rating IP54 and impact rating IK08. NexBlue applies a three-year warranty to this earlier model, subject to its terms.
NexBlue describes Edge 2 as the updated version of Edge and included it in the range released towards the end of 2025. Edge (UK) is superseded, although its manuals remain available and it remains on the government eligible chargepoint list dated 15 June 2026.
The government register records the model as 22.1 kW, while NexBlue’s technical specification states a maximum of 22 kW. The two published figures refer to the same Edge (UK), not separate variants.
