Sunny Home Manager 2.0 is SMA’s domestic energy manager and grid-point measuring device. It is not a solar or battery inverter.
Measurement and control
Its integrated bidirectional meter normally measures import and export at the grid connection point. Sunny Home Manager uses that information through Sunny Portal to coordinate supported batteries, EV chargers, heat pumps and flexible loads.
Third-party inverter generation may require an additional SMA Energy Meter. The extra meter supplies measurement data; it does not make an otherwise unsupported inverter controllable.
Measurement and control are therefore separate compatibility questions. An SMA Energy Meter can add a generation measurement point, while device coordination still depends on a documented interface supported by Sunny Home Manager. The presence of either meter does not turn Sunny Home Manager into an inverter or power-conversion device.
Tariff boundary
Dynamic-tariff functions are market-specific. Their presence on the global product page does not establish compatibility with a particular UK tariff or supplier.
That regional boundary is independent of the core grid-point measurement role. Import and export measurement can be part of a supported installation without establishing access to a market-specific tariff service.
