SMA Sunny Tripower Smart Energy is a three-phase hybrid inverter for solar and high-voltage battery storage. The current family covers 5, 6, 8 and 10 kW.
PV and battery design
The family has three MPPTs and a high-voltage battery interface.
SMA Home Storage is supported, along with other high-voltage batteries on SMA’s current released-battery list. Compatibility is tied to inverter firmware, battery firmware, model and module count. Release notes should be checked before updating because SMA has published warnings for particular plant combinations and firmware versions.
The 5, 6, 8 and 10 kW members are separate power classes. Battery approval for one class or firmware combination does not establish approval for another.
Backup boundary
Sunny Tripower Smart Energy has an integrated battery-backup function. Battery and backup operation remain specific to the inverter model, released battery configuration and compatible firmware.
Warranty
Warranty cover is five years with a free extension to ten years, subject to registration, territory and the applicable written terms.
