SolarEdge Home Backup Interface is the automatic changeover and grid-isolation unit used with supported Home Hub inverter and battery systems. BI-EU1P is the single-phase version and BI-EU3P is the three-phase version.
BI-EU1P and BI-EU3P are phase-specific
BI-EU1P is matched to Home Hub single-phase inverters. BI-EU3P is matched to Home Hub three-phase inverters and disconnects all three phases and neutral during backup operation. Their current ratings and supported inverter families differ, so one is not a phase-convertible version of the other.
Both datasheets list TT, TN-S and TN-C-S supplies. SolarEdge directs other grid topologies to its support route, which makes the earthing arrangement part of model selection rather than a setting left until commissioning.
Home Backup Interface grid isolation
During a grid outage, the interface separates the supported Home system from the external network so the compatible inverter can supply the designed backup circuits.
Whether the installation backs up a whole property or selected circuits depends on the complete supported arrangement and circuit design.
An integrated import/export meter is included. The communications path differs between the single-phase and three-phase units and remains subject to the applicable firmware note.

Home Backup Interface remains in SolarEdge’s current storage and backup range. Exact UK supply still depends on the required phase-specific part number.
