The Giv-Gateway is GivEnergy’s whole-home backup gateway for the All in One storage system. It is not an inverter. It is a mains transfer device with a factory-fitted grid energy meter and built-in connection points for a solar inverter and an EV charger. Bought alongside an All in One, it lets the home keep running on battery power when the grid fails.
What the AC ratings describe
The Giv-Gateway produces no power of its own. Its AC power and current ratings describe how much can pass through the unit between the grid, the All in One battery, a solar inverter and an EV charger, rather than any output it generates. Inverter-specific DC input and efficiency figures do not apply.
Backup switchover, mounting and monitoring
When the grid drops, the gateway isolates the home from the network and switches the load to the battery. The enclosure is rated for outdoor conditions, so it can be installed outside rather than taking indoor space. The grid meter is fitted at the factory, and an optional LoRa (long-range radio) link connects it to the rest of the system without a separate meter cable being run. Monitoring uses the GivEnergy app. Network connections include Wi-Fi, LAN and 4G.
Compatibility with the All in One
The Giv-Gateway works only with the GivEnergy All in One, the unit that houses the inverter and a 13.5 kWh LFP battery. The gateway holds no battery or inverter of its own. It is the part that turns an All in One into a whole-home backup system, connecting the grid, the battery, a solar inverter and an EV charger through one enclosure. Its single 230 V grid rating points to a single-phase supply.
Whole-home backup is not built into the All in One. A GivEnergy whole-home backup system includes the Giv-Gateway as well as the All in One.
MCS certification
MCS does not list the Giv-Gateway as a standalone product. Home batteries and transfer gateways are not catalogue products in the MCS Product Directory; battery storage is addressed through the MIS 3012 installer standard. Any MCS position therefore attaches to the installed system and installer requirements, not to this gateway as an individual product.
Availability and manufacturer status
GivEnergy Ltd entered administration and ceased trading on 9 April 2026, so the Giv-Gateway is recorded as withdrawn from new supply by that manufacturer. The specifications remain useful for installed All in One systems. The twelve-year figure is the warranty term published before the administration; the administrator has stated that GivEnergy Ltd will honour no further hardware warranties.
