Ecodan PUZ monobloc
PUZ is the opening code used by several Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan monobloc outdoor-unit families, so the remaining letters are essential.
Specifications
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | outdoor-unit code family for monobloc air-to-water heat pumps |
| Refrigerant | R290 or R32, determined by the complete code |
| MCS certified | yes; exact PUZ-WZ, PUZ-WM and PUZ-HWM records were present on 23 July 2026 |
| Sub-ranges | PUZ-WZ R290; PUZ-WM R32; PUZ-HWM R32 Zubadan |
| Supply phases | V codes are single phase and Y codes are three phase in current schedules |
PUZ is part of the product code on several Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan monobloc outdoor units. It is not a single model and does not establish the refrigerant, capacity or electrical supply without the characters that follow it.
Reading current PUZ families
Current R290 equipment uses PUZ-WZ, with PUZ-WZ50, WZ60, WZ85, WZ100 and WZ120 capacity forms. R32 equipment uses PUZ-WM for the compact and standard families and PUZ-HWM for the 14 kW Zubadan family.
In these schedules, V identifies a single-phase form and Y a three-phase form. The ending can include AA or HA according to family, while -BS identifies coastal protection. These characters should be copied from the rating plate or product record rather than reconstructed from the marketed output.
| Sub-range | Capacity class | Single-phase code | Three-phase code |
|---|---|---|---|
| R290 | 5 kW | PUZ-WZ50VAA |

| R290 | 6 kW | PUZ-WZ60VAA |

| R290 | 8.5 kW | PUZ-WZ85VAA |
PUZ-WZ85YAA |
| R290 | 10 kW | PUZ-WZ100VAA |
PUZ-WZ100YAA |
| R290 | 12 kW | PUZ-WZ120VAA |
PUZ-WZ120YAA |
| R32 compact | 5 kW | PUZ-WM50VHA |

| R32 standard | 6 kW | PUZ-WM60VAA |

| R32 standard | 8.5 kW | PUZ-WM85VAA |
PUZ-WM85YAA |
| R32 standard | 11.2 kW | PUZ-WM112VAA |
PUZ-WM112YAA |
| R32 Zubadan | 14 kW | PUZ-HWM140VHA |
PUZ-HWM140YHA |
Each base code also has an applicable -BS coastal-protection form. The suffix is part of the code and should not be omitted from the equipment record.
Why the complete code matters
The operating envelope changes by sub-range. R290 models operate to -25°C ambient and support water temperatures up to 75°C. The standard R32 range operates to -20°C, while Zubadan uses a -28°C limit. None of those values belongs to PUZ as a whole.
Mitsubishi Electric has also announced the phaseout of its R32 range in favour of R290. This gives the middle letters a lifecycle role as well as a technical one. PUZ-WM and PUZ-WZ identify different appliance families.
Exact PUZ-WZ, PUZ-WM and PUZ-HWM records were current in the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) Product Directory on 23 July 2026. Certification remains an exact-model check, including the phase and any defined combination.
