Aquarea J Series is an R32 monobloc generation. Its refrigerant circuit is contained in the outdoor unit, while water connects the outdoor unit to the heating system and any separate hot-water cylinder.
Two J Series code families
High Performance J monoblocs use WH-MDC codes. The live UK page covers a single-phase range and states a maximum 60°C hydraulic output, heating operation to -20°C and an external cylinder for domestic hot water. Current MCS records include 5, 7 and 9 kW J forms alongside older Panasonic generations sharing the same opening letters.
T-CAP J monoblocs use WH-MXC codes. Panasonic’s live T-CAP page shows 9 and 12 kW models, while its current selector and MCS records also include three-phase and 16 kW forms. Panasonic’s J T-CAP launch information states a 65°C water flow temperature and maintained capacity down to -20°C for that range.
The High Performance and T-CAP values should not be combined into a single J Series specification. The MDC or MXC segment is therefore essential.
Current status and certification
J Series remains on live UK product and range pages despite the later K, L and M generations. It is described as current at this review rather than assumed to be superseded from its letter alone.
Exact WH-MDC and WH-MXC records were current in the MCS Product Directory on 23 July 2026. The directory also contains older H and G generation codes returned by broad searches, so the complete J code is required for a valid register match.
Monobloc construction removes a site refrigerant connection between indoor and outdoor units. It does not remove the need to follow the manufacturer’s water, freeze-protection, electrical and siting instructions.
