Cloud Connect Advanced, usually shortened to CCA, is Tigo Energy’s data logger and communications gateway. It gathers information from compatible TS4 module-level devices through one or more Tigo Access Points, then makes current and historical information available through Tigo Energy Intelligence.

What it connects

A Tigo Access Point uses wireless communication with the TS4 devices on the array and connects back to the CCA by RS485 cable. The current CCA datasheet allows up to seven access points and up to 900 TS4 devices in total. Those are maximum design figures, not a statement that one access point can cover every roof: the TAP has its own distance and device-count limits.

The CCA can also read supported third-party devices using Modbus. Tigo names inverters, charge controllers, weather stations and revenue-grade meters as examples. Compatibility and register mapping have to be established for the exact third-party device rather than inferred from the presence of an RS485 port.

Network and installation format

Internet access can use Ethernet, Wi-Fi or an optional cellular connection. The indoor kit combines a CCA, TAP and DIN-rail power supply. Tigo’s outdoor kit adds an IP68-rated enclosure; the rating belongs to that enclosure, not to the bare CCA.

Power-supply requirements change with the number of connected TAPs. One or two TAPs can use 12 to 24 V DC, while systems with three or more require 24 V DC. The CCA consumes between 3 and 10 W with up to seven TAPs.

CCA and TAP are required for module-level monitoring with TS4 O and S products. Tigo also uses their wireless link in product configurations that provide rapid shutdown. The manufacturer’s rapid-shutdown claims refer to US National Electrical Code certification, so UK electrical and fire-safety requirements remain a separate design question.
