Battery-Box Combiner Box Plus CBH-70A is a high-voltage DC accessory in BYD Energy Storage’s current global residential portfolio. It combines the outputs of compatible Battery-Box towers before their connection to a supported inverter. It does not store energy, convert DC to AC or provide backup power by itself.
Electrical role
BYD publishes a maximum of three battery-tower connections. Each tower input is rated at up to 50 A, while the combined output is rated at up to 70 A and the maximum operating voltage is 1,000 V. Those limits are not a statement that every combination can use the full current or voltage. The battery family, tower size, number of towers, inverter and firmware determine the permitted arrangement.
The current product page names Battery-Box HVS, HVM, HVB, HVM+, HVS+ and HVE as compatible families. Towers still need to meet the parallel-operation rules for their own generation. That can include identical tower sizes, permitted module counts and current battery-management-unit firmware. Different Battery-Box generations should not be mixed merely because they appear in the combiner’s family list.
Installation boundary
The enclosure is rated IP65. That rating describes protection against dust and water ingress under the test standard, not permission to ignore the siting, temperature, clearance, cabling and isolation requirements in the current installation documents. This is high-voltage DC equipment and must form part of the designed battery system rather than being treated as a general-purpose junction box.
Current UK supply was not confirmed at the review date. For a UK installation, the exact CBH-70A document revision should be checked alongside the battery’s compatible-inverter list, the inverter design limits and the supplied installation manual.
