The GivEnergy AC Coupled Inverter is a single-phase battery inverter with the ENA model reference GIV-AC-3.0. It sits between a home’s AC wiring and an external low-voltage GivEnergy battery. It can add storage where solar already has its own inverter, or operate in a home without solar.
The product name is AC Coupled Inverter. GIV-AC-3.0 is its ENA reference. “Gen 3” belongs to separate GivEnergy battery and high-voltage hybrid-inverter hardware, so it does not identify this unit.
What AC-coupled means here
The DC side of this inverter connects to a battery and nothing else. It has no solar PV input and no MPPT, so it never converts panel output directly. Any solar keeps its own inverter and feeds the house on the AC side, and this unit charges the battery from whatever AC power is spare, then discharges it back when the house draws more than the supply is giving. Unlike a hybrid inverter, which takes a solar DC input, this unit does not.
Throughput, efficiency and the battery window
Charge and discharge run at the same single-phase rating, so the power figure
in the table applies in either direction. Charge / Discharge Efficiency is
97.1%, while European efficiency is 96.5%. These are separately labelled
inverter metrics and neither is a battery-system round-trip efficiency.
The 45 V to 58 V battery window is a low-voltage range. The battery is external to the inverter, and GivEnergy specifies its own LFP battery packs. Battery voltage must not exceed 60 V, so the exact battery and wiring must remain within the supported range.
Single-phase operation and grid standards
The inverter is single-phase. A three-phase installation uses multiple units rather than one three-phase GIV-AC-3.0. The unit has EPS terminals, so it can keep selected circuits running during a power cut. That is partial backup of chosen loads, not whole-home backup, which needs additional switching and isolation design.
GIV-AC-3.0 is fully type tested to G98. Its declared standards also include G99, G100 and EN 50549. The MCS Product Directory does not include GIV-AC-3.0 as a standalone product; grid compliance and MCS product certification are separate records.
Availability and manufacturer status
GivEnergy Ltd entered administration and ceased trading on 9 April 2026. The AC 3.0 is therefore recorded as withdrawn from new supply by that manufacturer, although installed units and the March 2026 datasheet remain relevant for identification and servicing.
The twelve-year figure is the term GivEnergy published before the administration. The administrator has stated that GivEnergy Ltd will honour no further hardware warranties or user and software support. Owners needing support are directed to their installer in the first instance.
