Mitsubishi Electric combines MSZ-AY and MSZ-AP into one white, wall-mounted R32 range. AY covers six indoor sizes from the 1.5 kW to 5.0 kW cooling classes. AP continues the range with 6.1 kW and 7.1 kW indoor units in a wider cabinet.
AY and AP differences
Both groups use R32. The current VGK2 indoor codes have built-in Wi-Fi and MELCloud Home control. AY covers the six smaller units, while AP covers the two largest and uses a wider indoor cabinet.
The matt finish, self-cleaning mode and Dual-Barrier coating apply to AY. The V-Blocking filter and MELCloud Home control extend across the current combined range. The AP60 and AP71 indoor cabinets are 1,100 mm wide, compared with 760 mm for AY15 and AY20 and 798 mm for AY25 to AY50.
The February 2026 combined PI schedule treats built-in Wi-Fi as a feature of all eight current VGK2 codes. The live product page instead limits its built-in-Wi-Fi wording to MSZ-AP-VGK models. The eight-code position on this page follows the later combined schedule.
Model codes and pairings
The digits after AY or AP identify the nominal cooling-capacity class. MSZ-AY35VGK2, for example, is the AY indoor unit in the 3.5 kW nominal cooling class. MSZ identifies an indoor unit and MUZ the matched pair outdoor unit.

AY15 has no corresponding MUZ outdoor unit. Its SEER, SCOP and energy-class cells are blank in the combined family PI table. AP71 uses MSZ-AP71VGK2 indoors and MUZ-AP71VK2 outdoors.
Controls and performance range
The eight current VGK2 indoor units include Wi-Fi for MELCloud Home monitoring and control, with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice control.
The seasonal efficiency, sound and outdoor cabinet size change by pair. AY20 to AY35 have A+++ cooling classes; AY42 through AP71 are A++. The two AP units also use the largest indoor cabinet and longer 30 m maximum pipe runs.
