RSS Transmitter
Tigo RSS Transmitter sends the power-line keep-alive signal used by TS4-A-F, TS4-A-2F and TS4-X-F rapid-shutdown devices.

Tigo RSS Transmitter is the signal source used with the dedicated F and 2F members of the TS4 range. RSS stands for Rapid Shutdown System. While powered, the transmitter sends a keep-alive signal along the PV conductors using power-line communication. Compatible TS4 devices enter their shutdown state when that signal is removed.
Transmitter formats
The current range includes DIN-rail modules and printed-circuit-board assemblies intended for integration into inverters. Single-core and dual-core versions are listed. Some inverters therefore contain the Tigo transmitter, while other systems require a separate unit and power supply.
Each core can surround up to ten positive conductors or ten negative conductors. The datasheet permits up to ten strings per core, up to 30 modules per string, a maximum of 160 A through a core and a maximum string voltage of 1,500 V DC. These are equipment limits. String design, conductor grouping, current direction and inverter compatibility still have to follow the current Tigo instructions.
Pure Signal linking
Pure Signal versions can synchronise as many as ten transmitters. Tigo describes this as a way to coordinate the keep-alive signal and reduce crosstalk on sites with several transmitters. The maximum cable length from the first to the last transmitter in a synchronised group is 30 m.
The standalone transmitter requires 12 V DC within a ±2% tolerance and has a maximum input current of 1 A. Tigo lists separate limits for the optional outdoor enclosure, including an IP67 / NEMA 3R rating and a -20°C to 50°C enclosure temperature range. Those values should not be confused with the bare transmitter’s -40°C to 85°C operating range.
Tigo pairs the transmitter with TS4-A-F, TS4-A-2F and TS4-X-F. Its PV rapid-shutdown certification refers to US National Electrical Code requirements. The relevance and purpose of the function in a UK installation should be established as part of the complete electrical and fire-safety design.
