TS4-A-S

TS4-A-S is a module-level device for monitoring and rapid shutdown in a string-inverter solar system. Unlike TS4-A-O, it does not provide power optimisation. The general description “Tigo optimiser” does not distinguish the functions of different TS4 suffixes.

Ratings and role

The current version is specified for modules up to 725 W. Its maximum operating input current is 16 A, maximum short-circuit current is 22 A and input voltage range is 12 to 80 V. Tigo states maximum efficiency of 99.6%.

The ordering table contains 1,000 V and 1,500 V maximum-system-voltage versions. The selected part number, connector and UL or IEC certification determine which limit applies.

These are TS4 equipment limits. The module current, voltage and connector type, the inverter’s operating window and the completed string design all remain separate checks. The datasheet also distinguishes between the standard wireless arrangement and optional power-line communication.

Monitoring equipment

In the standard arrangement, TS4-A-S units communicate wirelessly with a Tigo Access Point. The TAP connects by RS485 to Cloud Connect Advanced, which provides the link to Tigo Energy Intelligence. A TS4-A-S without the required communications equipment does not create the complete monitoring system described in Tigo’s literature.

The enclosure is rated IP68. The device measures 139.7 × 138.4 × 22.9 mm, weighs 520 g and has a stated 25-year warranty, subject to the applicable terms.

Tigo presents rapid shutdown as part of a certified system under US National Electrical Code rules. It depends on a compatible system design and should not be read as a statement that UK rules require the same arrangement on every installation.
