The Hybrid Inverter High Voltage (Gen 3) is a single-phase hybrid inverter from GivEnergy, a UK energy hardware manufacturer. A hybrid inverter runs solar and battery conversion through one box, so the same unit that tracks the panels also charges and discharges the battery. GivEnergy lists two power ratings under this product, the 8.0 and the 10.0; the specifications on this page are the 10.0, taken from its datasheet.

What the tracking and efficiency figures describe

Independent MPPT means each panel string runs at its own optimum. A roof split across two pitches or facings can be wired as separate arrays, so shade or a shallower angle on one string does not pull the other down to its level. The two efficiency figures describe how much of the panels’ DC output survives conversion to household AC: the peak value is the best case at one ideal operating point, and the European weighted value blends light-load and heavy-load points into a number closer to a full day’s mix.

The high-voltage battery it pairs with

What separates this model from the rest of the Gen 3 hybrids is the battery it works with. It pairs only with GivEnergy’s high-voltage stackable battery, an LFP pack whose cells are wired in series to a few hundred volts and which talks to the inverter over a CAN (controller area network) bus. That is what the battery voltage range in the table refers to. GivEnergy also sells a Gen 3 hybrid for its low-voltage line, the 3.6 and 5.0 models, which run a battery around fifty volts across an RS485 (serial) link. The two share the Gen 3 name and the hybrid label but are not interchangeable, and the low-voltage battery figures do not apply here.

Backup, mounting and charge current

When the grid fails, a dedicated backup terminal on the inverter can supply power from the battery, switching over in around ten milliseconds. The unit is transformerless and rated for outdoor mounting, and it runs on a single-phase supply, so a three-phase home would need a different arrangement. Battery charge current can be raised through a firmware update after commissioning, so a newly installed unit is not necessarily running at its maximum charge rate.

Grid compliance

The datasheet cites compliance with the G99 and G100 grid codes, the Great Britain rules for connecting generation and for limiting export. That is a grid-connection standard rather than a product certificate. MCS certifies the installation, not the inverter model, so there is no MCS product-directory listing for this unit to check.

Availability and manufacturer status

GivEnergy Ltd entered administration and ceased trading on 9 April 2026, so the Gen 3 inverter is recorded as withdrawn from new supply by that manufacturer. The 8.0 and 10.0 variants use separate datasheets, and the figures here describe the 10.0. Those documents remain relevant to installed systems.

The twelve-year figure is the warranty term published before the administration rather than a throughput cap. The administrator has stated that GivEnergy Ltd will honour no further hardware warranties or user and software support.
